Day 47 Brussels

We tried to order a taxi to get to Gare du Nord  in order to avoid humping the bags up and down Metro station stairs, but our receptionist was unable to get one to come - momentary panic! The receptionist redeemed herself however by pointing out that it was only an eight minute walk down the street around the corner. We had not realised we were so close to the station. Her directions were impeccable and we arrived in plenty of time. The journey to Brussels was smooth and fast (probably over 200 Km/h).

Petra and Yves were there to greet us on the platform which made for a very easy arrival in Brussels. After a refresher and chat at their we were taken for a little drive to see a special exhibition at the Musee de l’Art et d’Histoire featuring Renaissance dresses and costumes made entirely of paper. It was a fabulous display enhanced by a personal guided tour by one of the staff (with Petra translating) and we really enjoyed this visit.

Following this they took our to the B&B we were to stay at, le Valduc, a large three storey house built by an eminent local pediatrician with a large family and now owned by his granddaughter. We had a large room on the top floor and it was quiet and very comfortable - just what we wanted.

Dinner was an excellent meal (first class!) at Y&P’s. The best by far so far!
